The Historic Inn's Transformation
The Yardley Inn, a culinary landmark in Yardley, PA, since its opening in 1979, is poised for a significant transformation. This project, approved by the Yardley Borough Council, aims to elevate and expand the inn, addressing both its historic charm and modern necessities

Renovation Details
Scheduled to begin in early 2025, the renovations are a response to the inn's vulnerability to flooding and its structural concerns. The project, with an estimated cost of around $5 million, will involve elevating the entire structure by five feet. This substantial lift is not just a structural update but a proactive measure to preserve the inn for future generations

The work includes moving the inn further into the parking lot, then placing it back on a new, elevated foundation. A key feature of this renovation is the addition of a second-floor deck, designed to host 35 to 50 patrons for outdoor dining, enhancing the inn's scenic views of the Delaware River. Accessibility improvements are also part of the plan, with the addition of a lift and an elevator, ensuring ADA compliance. Furthermore, the renovations will increase the restaurant's square footage from 5,000 to 8,700 and slightly expand its seating capacity to 300

Community and Historical Significance
The inn's renovation is more than just a construction project; it's a community effort to preserve a local landmark. Councilman Don Carlson emphasized the importance of this endeavor, noting it as a way to "save" the inn and extend its life by another century. The project received extensive review and support from various boards and the planning commission, highlighting its significance to the Yardley community

Operational Considerations
To facilitate the renovation, the Yardley Inn will close for approximately one year. However, it's important to note that until the renovations commence in 2025, the inn remains open for business, continuing to serve its patrons with the same level of excellence it's known for. This temporary closure, while impactful, is seen as a necessary step for the long-term sustainability and enhancement of the inn
